OVARIAN CANCER ALLIANCE OF ARIZONA Conquering Ovarian Cancer in Arizona

OUR MISSION
The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Arizona (OCAZ) is a charitable group of volunteers, survivors, and community leaders. Our vision is to conquer ovarian cancer in Arizona. Our purpose is elevating ovarian cancer awareness, survivorship, and care.
OCAZ works with public and medical communities, building bridges that help our constituency. We empower and indpire survivors, offering tools to improve their quality of life. And we serve as advocates to increase funding for research and better treatments;
Someday, a cure.
|
For a woman with ovarian cancer, treatments are difficult and the challenge is enormous. The deadliest of the gynecologic
cancers, ovarian cancer claims the lives of over 15,000 women in the US each year.
We empower and inspire survivors to “Live Out Loud,” offering education and tools to live a better life. And, we give voice to
the courageous women who live with ovarian cancer and the families who love them.
We are committed to informing Arizona women about the symptoms of ovarian cancer in order to diagnose the disease
earlier, when the cancer is most treatable..
 | | Our flagship campaign, Be One In A Million, reached over 600,000 women in 2008.
|
 | | We brought ovarian cancer to the ballpark, with the Diamondbacks' an Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night at Chase |
| | Field.
|
 | | Ovarian cancer has received continuous media exposure since our campaign began.
|
 | | Thousands of Phoenix drivers pass by our symptoms billboard everyday. |
| | |
The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance has led the community in advocacy on Capitol Hill, protecting appropriations for
research and education initiatives like Johanna’s Law, the Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Bill. In 2008,
the first Arizona delegation representing ovarian cancer met with Senate and House Congressional Members on
important legislation that impacts women in our community.
 | | SURVIVOR MEETINGS. Our survivor meetings are conducted as interactive workshops designed to move survivors |
| | forward. We tackle quality of life issues and provide inspiration as well as practical information.
|
 | | CLINICAL TRIALS. Our goal is to increase the number of women with ovarian cancer in clinical trials, helping |
| | investigators examine possible avenues for treatment for ovarian cancer and elevating the disease among research efforts.
|
We are part of a national and regional effort to find solutions to the disease, either with increased funding, better
treatments, and finally a cure. We are leading the community to make ovarian cancer a national concern, as widely
understood and supported as any cancer.
We are inciting a movement to conquer ovarian cancer in Arizona. If you would like to be part of it, please contact us and
get involved.
